Southwest Welcome New President/CEO

Mollie Melbourne - President/CEO - SWCHCBridgeport, Conn. –February 18, 2019– Southwest Community Health Center and its Board of Directors are pleased to announce that Mollie Melbourne has been appointed as the new President and Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Melbourne has taken her post as of February 18, 2019, succeeding former President/CEO Katherine S. Yacavone and Interim President/CEO Thomas Krause.  

"It was not easy to fill the shoes of our long-time President, Katherine S. Yacavone” said Marshall Touponse, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “The Board of Directors of Southwest conducted a very lengthy and thorough search‎. In the end, we chose a candidate we have known for many years. We think that Mollie is the perfect person to lead Southwest to new heights of success in serving our community."

Ms. Melbourne comes to Southwest Community Health Center with a wealth of knowledge and experience specific to the community health realm. Most recently, she held the role of Chief Operating Officer with the Community Health Center Association of Connecticut where she oversaw the cost effective maintenance of facilities and equipment as well as identifying grant opportunities. In addition, Ms. Melbourne has also worked with the National Association of Community Health Centers as the National Director of Emergency Management. Through this role, she was able to develop and implement training and technical assistance offerings related to emergency management for FQHCs and PCAs across the country, orchestrated critical partnerships to promote and include FQHCs and the populations they serve in emergency management planning, and supported health centers/communities affected by disasters and emergencies. 

Ms. Melbourne holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Connecticut and a Master Practitioner Certification from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. With a proven record of impact, Mollie is well placed to carry on the legacy of Southwest Community Health Center and bring the organization forward to another 40+ years of affordable, quality health services for the greater Bridgeport community.
